WKU Chemistry Student Chapter Receives National Award

- For the fifth time in six years, Western Kentucky University’s American Chemical Society Student Affiliate Chapter has been honored with a national award from the American Chemical Society.
The WKU chapter has received its first Commendable Award for its educational and service activities during the 2005-06 academic year.
The award will be presented March 27 during the ACS 233rd National Meeting and Exposition in Chicago. The ACS presents three levels of awards to more than 500 Student Affiliate Chapters worldwide: Outstanding (34), Commendable (56) and Honorable Mention (75).
In four of the past five years, the WKU chapter has received Honorable Mention awards.
WKU chapter officers for 2005-06 were: President Abigail Hobbs of Ekron, who is a graduate student at the University of Florida; vice president Anne Sananikone of Bowling Green, who is a WKU senior; secretary Donald Chapman of Elizabethtown, who is a graduate student at Notre Dame; co-treasurers Jen Carter of Bowling Green, who is teaching high school, and Kayla Milner of Dale, Ind., who is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Kevin Williams served as the chapter’s faculty adviser.
