Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Laura McGee, associate professor of German at Western Kentucky University, attended the symposium “Prospects for European Integration,” Nov. 17-19 at the invitation of the German Embassy in Washington, D.C.         

The symposium was designed exclusively for select American alumni of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), German American Fulbright Commission, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and the Robert Bosch Foundation. Dr. McGee is an alumna of both the DAAD and the German American Fulbright Commission.

Organized by the German Embassy in close cooperation with the above institutions, the symposium brought together 60 individuals from various fields and backgrounds who have all spent time in Germany researching, working, or studying under the auspices of one of these organizations. The symposium offered opportunities to discuss the growing role of the European Union on the international stage. Participants also learned about opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at their institutions and networked on a regional level.
