WKU, National City Award Incentive Scholarships

- Western Kentucky University and National City on Tuesday
announced the four recipients of the National City Harman and Potter Incentive Scholarships for 2006.
The four-year renewable tuition scholarships are designated for a graduating senior in each of the four high schools in Bowling Green and Warren County. The scholarships were first awarded in the fall of 1986.
WKU President Gary Ransdell and Alex Downing, president of the College Heights Foundation, thanked National City for its support of academic excellence and scholarships over the past 20 years.
“Of all that National City does in Bowling Green, Warren County and our service area, being able to administer the Harman-Potter fund is our most cherished duty,” said Kevin Mays, president of National City.
The fund has awarded about $2.3 million in scholarships, he said.
Mays also thanked former WKU President Dero Downing, chairman of the College Heights Foundation board, for his instrumental efforts in establishing the scholarships and providing students with the opportunity to experience WKU.
The 2006 recipients recognized at a news conference Tuesday are:
*Stevie Goodall of Bowling Green High School. She is the daughter of Steve and Patty Goodall and plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
*Ken Durlin of Warren East High School. He is the son of Ken and Bonnie Durlin and plans to major in history.
*Josh Miller of Warren Central High School. He is the son of Patsy Roach and is undecided on a major.
*Jacquelyn Wallace of Greenwood High School. She is the daughter of Jennifer Wallace and plans to major in music.
