SCAPA Wins Junior Division State
Speech Tournament

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Kentucky High School Speech League, Inc. hosted its Junior Division State Tournament March 17-18 on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Forty-two schools from around the Commonwealth competed at this year’s State Tournament.

The following schools placed in team sweepstakes:

State Champion – School for Creative and Performing Arts, Bluegrass (SCAPA)

2nd – Hindman Elementary

3rd – Ockerman Middle School

4th – Southern Pulaski Middle School

5th – Kentucky Country Day

6th – Roy G. Eversole Middle School

7th – Franklin-Simpson Middle School

8th – Carr Creek Elementary

9th – Harrison County Middle School

10th – Morton Middle School

The Horizon Awards are given to schools with smaller entries who demonstrate excellence at the State Tournament. The top five were:

1st – St. Augustine School

2nd – Winburn Middle School

3rd – Bardstown Middle School

4th – Seton Catholic School

5th – Robinson Elementary

The 2006 Sustained Excellence Trophy was presented to The Lexington School.
