Bowling Green, Ky. - RV enthusiasts from all over the United States will gather May 12-15 at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center on Western Kentucky University’s South Campus.
The annual Life on Wheels conference will attract hundreds of novice, intermediate and advanced “RVers.”
The three-day series of 80 educational classes on the RV lifestyle features more than 20 experts, writers and educators from the industry, each presenting seminars and workshops related to RV recreation and travel, equipment and maintenance, and a variety of lifestyle enhancement courses. All activities will take place inside and outside of the Carroll Knicely Conference Center.
The curriculum includes courses in three areas: Lifestyle (Fulltiming, Choosing an RV, Campground Memberships, etc.), Technical (Appliance Maintenance, Solar Power, Tow Rigs, etc.), and Lifestyle Enhancement (RVing with Pets, Alaska: The Ultimate RV Adventure, Making Money on the Road, etc.).
Instructors include major magazine and book travel writers like Nick Russell, editor of Gypsy Journal RV Travel Newspaper and author of several RV and travel books, including “Meandering Down the Highways,” “Work Your Way Across the USA,” “The Frugal RVer” and “Highway History and Backroad Mystery.”
Technical experts include Steve Savage, a master certified technician who specializes in teaching “newbies” how to use and care for the various mechanical and electrical systems on motorhomes and trailers; Dave and Sandy Baleria, experts on RV safety offer lots of practical advice to RVers; and Joe Green who specializes in towing rigs. A driving school and RV Safety Weighing are available for an extra fee.
Fees for the Life on Wheels conference are $199 per person. Dry camping is available for no charge. To register or request a brochure, call Life on Wheels toll-free at 1-866-569-4646 or visit Life on Wheels online at www.rvlifeonwheels.com
An added value to this year’s program is a pre-conference event “Just for Newbies.” For two days prior to the Life on Wheels conference, “Just for Newbies” is held at a nearby campground. These elementary training sessions are geared to the needs of new RV owners. Instruction includes both classroom and individual instruction and each participant receives personal supervision in his/her RV by a highly trained technician. This event teaches RV owners how their systems and equipment work, how to utilize systems properly and most effectively, and basic maintenance. The tuition for Life on Wheels Pre-conferences is $139 per RV with one person, $169 per RV couple. (Fee includes pizza and two continental breakfasts.) Pre-registration is required.
More than 9,000 participants have taken advantage of the lessons to learn at Life on Wheels. Of the many who attend each year, approximately 30 percent do not own an RV. Life on Wheels provides them with the knowledge to make an informed and intelligent buying decision.
