Bowling Green, Ky. - The partners of the Southern Kentucky Book Fest and Dollar General are proud to sponsor the Kentucky Writers Conference for the third year. This conference features many Kentucky writers and their work and a wide variety of writing genres.

Thursday’s sessions will be held on Thursday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature songwriting sessions by duos Zoe Speaks and Troubadours of Divine Bliss and songwriter Skip Bethune. Other sessions will be presented by children’s author Ronda Friend, journalist Keith Runyon, novelist Kirby Gann, biographer Alanna Nash, poet Kathleen Driskell, and playwrights Elizabeth Hayes and Eric A. Link.

On Friday, April 7, presentations will be made from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Conference headliner Chuck Barris will speak at 10 o’clock. Other Friday presenters include Bob Summer from Publishers Weekly, best-selling author Lynn Hightower, magazine editors Michael Embry and Nancy Bronner, playwright Bill Green, novelists River Jordan and Beverle Graves Myers, faith writer Ray Waddle, and poet Darnell Arnoult.

"I love doing the Kentucky Writer’s Conference,” says Lynn Hightower, Shamus-award winner and best-selling author of When Secrets Die, “it’s a meeting of the minds with other writers. I enjoy the process of sharing what I know and getting the fresh perspective of people who are finding their way.”

All sessions will take place at the Western Kentucky University’s Bowling Green Community College and will be open to high school students, WKU students and the general public. Admission and parking are free.

The Southern Kentucky Book Fest is a partnership project of Western Kentucky University Libraries, the Bowling Green Public Library and Barnes and Noble Booksellers.
