Green, Ky. - Funeral arrangements for Western Kentucky University Regents Chairman Cornelius
Martin, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday in Logan County, have been announced.
Visitation will be at J. C. Kirby Funeral Home on Lovers Lane on Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m., and the funeral will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Living Hope Baptist Church. The family has asked that memorial gifts be directed to the WKU Foundation for the Martin Scholarship Fund.
Martin is survived by his wife Gail, and their three children, Amber, Chad and Coleman.
“Cornelius has served on our Board for 12 years, including two terms as chair,” WKU President Gary Ransdell said. “This is a significant loss for our University. Please join me in extending our deepest sympathy to the Martin family and in offering expressions of support for all who
knew and loved Cornelius Martin.”
The Board of Regents has a scheduled called meeting on June 16 to approve the FY 06-07 campus budget. The Board will take action at that time to vote on the appointment of Earl Fischer as the new Board Chair. Fischer currently serves as Vice Chair.
A campus Memorial Service has been tentatively scheduled pending communication with the family for 4 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Guthrie Tower.
