Imagewest's Agency Manager Named To The 2006-07 Nashville Advertising Foundation Board Of Directors

Bowling Green, Ky. - Heather Garcia of Western Kentucky University has justgarcia been named to the 2006-2007 Nashville Advertising Federation Board of Directors. Garcia is currently the agency manager of Imagewest, the only student-run advertising and public relations agency in the nation. She will reside over a three-year term to the NAF Board of Directors that was unanimously voted on at the May 18th luncheon.

The NAF is the seventh district of the American Advertising Federation and serves the Nashville advertising community. NAF President, David Howe, announced the Board of Directors last week and said, “ As we move forward, together we will continue to build a better association: more fruitful networking, more engaging programs and events, a stronger education and scholarship program, and a more enduring contribution to the community and industry we
love.”

Heather is a Western Kentucky University advertising graduate. She has been a NAF member since 2004 and resided on the Education Committee. She has been actively involved in the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and Bowling Green Professional Marketing Association, while serving on both the Speaker and Markie Awards Committees.

Garcia said, “I am honored by this nomination and look forward to the leadership role in an association I believe in.”

Garcia has been with Imagewest since its conception in 2003 and works directly with students and cliental. The agency operates year-round and offers various services such as graphic and web design, public relations, special event planning, focus group sessions, and much more.

The Nashville Advertising Federation is in the seventh district of the AAF. The American Advertising Federation is a trade association that represents over 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. The AAF prides itself on having 130 corporate members that include advertisers, agencies, and media companies. Its mission is to protect and promote the well being of all advertisers.

Imagewest is a student-run advertising and public relations agency that provides students with real-world agency experience. Imagewest allows students to further develop their skills and enhance their portfolio giving them a competitive edge as they enter the workforce. Imagewest operates year-round and offers a variety of services such as graphic and web design, media relations and publicity, event planning, large scale printing, consulting, strategic planning, conducting research including the use of an in-house focus group facility, and much more.

Imagewest began in January 2004 and is located on Western Kentucky University’s campus in the Mass Media and Technology Hall room 331. Any revenues that are generated will go directly back into the School of Journalism and Broadcasting to cover expenses such as equipment, scholarships and educational travel. It is part of WKU’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting’s Center for 21st Century Media Program of Distinction, which is approved and
funded by Kentucky’s Council on Post-Secondary Education Regional Excellence Trust Fund.
