Bowling
Green, Ky.
- The Western Kentucky University Board of Regents today
(Friday)
elected Earl Fischer of Dallas chair for 2006-07. Fisher, senior vice
president for utility operations for Atmos Energy Corp., replaces Cornelius
Martin, who was killed June 3 in a motorcycle accident.
Fischer was vice chair for 2005-06.
The board also elected Lois Gray of Hardin County as vice chair and
Elizabeth Esters as secretary. They will serve through June 30, 2007.
The board also approved a resolution honoring Martin, who served on
the board for 12 years, including four as chair. He has also served
on the WKU Foundation Board and the Institute for Economic Development
Board. The resolution will be presented to the Martin family during
a campus memorial service on July 20.
“Every one of us feels like we have lost a friend,” Fischer said of
Martin. “We certainly will miss him.”
