Bowling Green, Ky. - The partners of the Southern Kentucky Book Fest and Franklin Bank & Trust have chosen “In Country” for the 2006 One Campus-One Community-One Book project.

Written by Kentucky native Bobbie Ann Mason, “In Country” is the bestselling novel and deeply affecting story of a young girl who comes to terms with her father’s death in Vietnam two decades earlier. Originally published in 1985, “In Country” was recently reissued by HarperCollins as a modern classic.

Free books will be given during the Jan. 26 kick-off events at WKU’s Java City at 2 p.m. and the Bowling Green Public Library at 6 p.m. Barnes and Noble will host a kick off at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 and will offer free coffee to participants.

“Along with our public discussion forum, a new twist will be showing the movie ‘In Country’ starring Bruce Willis on Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Bowling Green Public Library,” says Jayne Pelaski, WKU Libraries Community Outreach Coordinator.

Bobbie Ann Mason will be at WKU’s Java City and Bowling Green Public Library on March 2 and at Barnes and Noble on March 3.
