WKU Hosting Fifth Annual Girls In
Science Day March 4

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will host its fifth annual Girls in Science Day on March 4.

The event will consist of hands-on activities for fifth- through eighth-graders to increase their confidence in math and science. The cost is $5, which includes materials, lunch and T-shirt.

Girls in Science Day begins with registration at 8 a.m. at Thompson Complex Central Wing Auditorium, room 129. During the morning session from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., girls will participate in three of 14 classes ranging from “The Art and Math of Tessellations”; “Books, Stars, and Geometric Connections”; “Bottle Your Own Genes”; “Crime Scene Investigation”; “Dirt Can Take Care of Your Dirty Work”; “Everyday Engineering”; “Introduction to GIS”; “Scientific Cellebration”; and “Volcano!”

From 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., girls will participate in a team project. Project demonstrations and an awards presentation will begin at 2:30 p.m. The team project and awards ceremony will be held in at Thompson Complex Central Wing Auditorium.
