Bowling Green, Ky. - Patrick Buchanan, a junior broadcast news major from Lexington, was crowned
Western Kentucky University’s 2006 Coming Home King on Saturday.
Buchanan, the son of Betty Morton, was honored during Saturday’s WKU vs. Florida International game. He was sponsored by Spirit Masters.
Coming Home activities began with “March the Hill,” a Centennial commemoration to mark Western’s February 1911 move up College Street to the Hill. President Gary Ransdell led the march from the Kentucky Library and Museum down College Heights Boulevard to Diddle Arena.
Several former Hilltopper and Lady Topper players also returned to WKU for Coming Home to participate in reunion activities. Six teams -- the 1936 Hilltopper KIAC champions, 1966 Hilltopper OVC champions, 1971 Hilltopper Final Four team, 1984-85 and 1985-86 Lady Topper Final Four teams and 1991 Lady Topper NCAA Sweet Sixteen team were recognized during Hilltopper and Lady Topper games.
