WKU Students Receive Kentucky Academy Of Science Awards

Bowling Green, Ky. - Several Western Kentucky University students received awards in the 2006 Kentucky Academy of Science Undergraduate and Graduate Research Competitions.

More than 300 research papers and posters were presented in 18 disciplines at the 92nd annual meeting of the KAS, hosted by Morehead State University Nov. 9-11.

WKU undergraduate award winners were:


Chemistry: Becca M. Sandlin of Monterey, Tenn., second, paper; Christopher D. Poteet of Bowling Green, first, poster.

Ecology and Environmental Science: Jonathan Bowers of Bowling Green, second, paper; Cabrina Hamilton of Springfield, third, paper.

Geography: Ashley Littell of Louisville, first, paper.

Physiology and Biochemistry: Ronald R. Gilley of Pineville, third, paper.

Zoology: Amanda Webb of Rockfield, second, paper.

WKU graduate research award winners were:

Agricultural Sciences: Ashley Monfort of Bowling Green, first, paper; Kyle Daniel of Bowling Green, third, paper.
