Bowling
Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will celebrate the reopening of Cherry Hall on Sunday with a special musical performance and light show.
Parts of Cherry Hall have been closed for repairs since an April 23 arson fire caused more than $1.3 million in damage. Two juveniles were arrested in June and charged with setting the fire.
Cherry Hall will be open to visitors at 6:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the WKU Faculty Jazz Quintet will perform. At 8 p.m., Dr. David Lee, dean of the Potter College of Arts and Letters, and WKU President Gary Ransdell will give a brief welcome. That will be followed by a light show and musical performance by the RedShirts.
Free ice cream, popcorn and water will be available. Sponsorship provided by Service One Credit Union and WKU Restaurant and Catering. Light show performance will be by Jeff Smith and Jerry Wilson.
This celebration is a WKU Centennial event.
