WKU Announces 2006 Summer Sessions Schedule
April 04 , 2006
Bowling Green, Ky. - The WKU Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) announces the schedule for the 2006 Western Kentucky University’s Summer Sessions.
One three-week session and two five-week sessions are offered during the summer. Courses are held on the main WKU campus in Bowling Green, at the WKU regional campuses in Elizabethtown/Fort Knox, Glasgow and Owensboro, as well as at other locations. Morning, afternoon, weekend, evening and online courses are available.
There are several benefits of taking classes during the summer at WKU, according to Beth Laves, assistant to the dean of the WKU Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) and director of Winter/Summer Sessions. “Summer sessions allow students to speed up progress towards their degrees and catch courses they have dropped or not been able to take in the past,” she said.
Laves points out special activities planned for students for this summer. “This year we are very excited to partner with the WKU Campus Activities Board in providing a free event for main campus students during each of the three summer sessions,” she said.
The events include a free lunch at the Fresh Food Company in May where students and their professors will have the opportunity to interact outside of class. There will be a unique event in June. “They will be setting up a huge outdoor screen and showing a movie, ‘Hoodwinked,’ which has just recently been released in theaters,” according to Laves. A free movie and popcorn in the Downing University Center during July will cap the summer’s activities.
