Biologists From WKU, Slovenia
To Participate In Exchange

- Biologists from Western Kentucky University and the National Institute
of Biology in Slovenia have received an $18,400 grant from the Slovenian
government to support an exchange program in the summer of 2006 and
2007.
Dr. Philip Lienesch, Dr. Keith Philips and Dr. Richard Bowker of WKU’s
Biology Department, and Dr. Anton Brancelj and Dr. Al Vrezec of the
National Institute of Biology in Slovenia, received the funding to support
scientific research cooperation between the Republic of Slovenia and
the United States of America.
In each year, Dr. Bancelj and Dr. Vrezec will visit the WKU Biology
Department to conduct research in Mammoth Cave National Park. In exchange,
Dr. Lienesch and Dr. Philips will travel to the Central European nation
to work on fish and insect populations in Slovenian caves.
