Members Of WKU's Intramural-Recreational Sports Department Recognized

Bowling Green, Ky. - Members of Western Kentucky University’s Intramural-Recreational Sports Department have been recognized nationally for their excellence this year.
Director of Intramural-Recreational Sports Stephen Rey is the recipient of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association’s (NIRSA) Professional Scholarship Award, and the first ever Anthony J. Chivetta Scholarship, which will cover the registration fee for the NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute “Building Your Future” to be held Oct. 11-14 in Columbus, Ohio.
Associate Director of Intramural-Recreational Sports Mark Williams is the recipient of the NIRSA Horace Moody Award for outstanding contributions and commitment to student development.
Graduate Assistant Michael Collins is the winner of the NIRSA Region 2 Outstanding Graduate Student Scholarship and Leadership Award, and was also recognized for having the highest GPA in Region 2. In addition, he is the recipient of the NIRSA Foundation Student Scholarship Award and WKU’s Outstanding Graduate Student in the Department of Recreation.
Gene Tice, vice president of Student Affairs and Campus Services, said: “I am very pleased and proud of the recognition these three staff members have received. I feel that our Intramural-Recreational Sports Department at Western Kentucky University is one of the best in the nation and to have three key leaders in our program to receive this type of recognition certainly verifies that assessment.”
