Bowling Green, Ky. - Three Welcome to WKU events postponed last week because of heavy rain are on today as scheduled.

The Welcome Back Western festival, which features information booths from businesses and community non-profit agencies, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Preston Center lawn. The Student Organizational Fair will follow from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Preston Center lawn.

The Freshman Assembly, which features food, music and fireworks, will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Guthrie Tower and Downing University Center South Lawn.

During the assembly, first-year students will receive commemorative pins that read "WKU 2005: The Beginning" President Gary Ransdell, Provost Barbara Burch, Student Government Association President Katie Dawson and Lauren Cunningham of Kaleidoscope will make remarks.

All first-year students are expected to attend. The event is open to faculty, staff, other students and community members.
