Jim Wayne Miller Celebration Of Writing Set For Oct. 16
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will host the ninth annual Jim Wayne Miller Celebration of Writing on Oct. l6.
The celebration, which begins at 2 p.m. (CDT) in room 103 of the Garrett Conference Center, will feature a reading of "A Feast of Words," by award-winning fiction writer Sallie Bingham. Bingham will read from her collection of short stories, "Transgressions," and from her soon-to-be released book, "Cory's Feast." Her reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. Finalists and winners of the annual Jim Wayne Miller writing contest will be announced. The annual writing celebration was first held in 1997 in honor of Miller, a long-time WKU faculty member and well-known poet, fiction writer and essayist. He was a professor of German from 1963 until his death in l996. He also taught summer writing workshops throughout the Appalachian region. The event is free and open to the public.
