WKU Musicians To Present Two Hurricane Benefit Concerts
Bowling Green, Ky. - A Western Kentucky University service fraternity and pianist Sylvia Kersenbaum will present concerts to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The WKU Professional Music Service Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, will present a Hurricane Katrina Relief Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 16) at First Baptist Church in Bowling Green. The concert will include many performing groups of varying musical styles and will feature the WKU Faculty Jazz Quintet. Also performing will be Eric Smedley, trumpet; Brandon Jones, euphonium; Tuba/Euphonium ensemble; The Redshirts; Hephaestus; WKU Flute Choir; Shananagans; Dave Cunningham/BJ Britt, trumpet duet; Beta Sigma jazz band and the Iota Mu choir. Admission to the concert is $5. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross. Also, non-perishable food items will be collected at the door. An Evening of Romantic Piano Music featuring Sylvia Kersenbaum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 20) at First Baptist Church. Tickets are $10 at the door. Donations are welcome.
