Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will close several streets during Homecoming festivities next weekend. Here are the details:
Homecoming parade street closings for Oct. 14
The Homecoming parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, on Normal Drive at the traffic light at State Street and College Heights Boulevard (formerly 15th Street) and end at the traffic light on Regents Avenue.
The following streets will be closed due to the parade route:
- College Heights Boulevard (from State Street to College Street) will be closed to through traffic at 4 p.m.
- State Street (from 13th to College Heights Boulevard) will be closed at 4:30 p.m.
- 14th Street (from State to Chestnut) will be closed at 4:30 p.m.
- State/Normal (from the College Heights/State traffic light to the traffic light at Regents Avenue) will be closed at 5 p.m.
- Beginning at 4:30 p.m., all traffic exiting Alumni Drive must turn right.
- At 5 p.m., Alumni Drive and Hilltop Drive will be closed.
All streets will reopen following the parade at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Homecoming day street closings for Oct. 15
- Avenue of Champions, beginning at intersection with College Heights Boulevard (formerly Dogwood Drive), will close to through traffic at noon Saturday, Oct. 15. Hilltopper Athletic Foundation members with proper parking passes to South Lawn lot and front Diddle Arena lots will be allowed access to those lots. Any vehicle needing to unload items for South Lawn tents will be directed to the unloading area between the Preston Center and Tate Page Hall off Regents Avenue.
- All Parking Structure One (old structure) traffic is encouraged to exit onto College Heights Boulevard (formerly Dogwood Drive), then on to University Boulevard. Avenue of Champions will reopen 30 minutes after the conclusion of the football game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
