November 28, 2005

Bowling Green, Ky. - For the second year, interns from Imagewest, Western Kentucky University’s student-run advertising and public relations agency, were honored at the Bowling Green Professional Marketing Association Markie Awards ceremony Nov. 15.

Professional marketers in Bowling Green competed in 10 categories with more than 40 entries that showcased the best marketing efforts that PMA members executed. Imagewest’s student interns won in three of the 10 categories -- business card, brochure and direct mail. Projects included work done by the spring, summer and fall interns.

“It is exciting to be recognized for the hard work and efforts put into a project,” said agency manager Heather Garcia. “I am thrilled to work with such talented students and this is just icing on the cake for all involved.”

Catering to clients at WKU and in the community, Imagewest has been open for a year and a half and has completed more 200 projects. This semester nine student interns, along with Garcia, run the agency.

“The quality and professionalism of the work produced by Imagewest means that we are doing our job in the classroom,” said Cliff Shaluta, advertising/public relations program coordinator. “It is exciting to see the diverse projects the agency is working on.”
