Farmers National Bank Holiday Home Festival To Feature Activities For The Kids
Bowling Green, Ky. - There’s more to the Farmers National Bank Holiday Home Festival than just great shopping for holiday gifts and decorating ideas. Kids will find lots of fun and Walkaround Elmo at this year’s festival, Thanksgiving weekend at the Sloan Convention Center. Healthy Habits for Life is the theme of Saturday morning’s special time for kids beginning at 10 a.m.
Did you know that you should brush your teeth for 2 minutes at least three times a day to prevent tooth decay? A registered dental hygienist with Drobocky Orthodontics will share with kids the art of properly brushing your teeth. Get up off that couch! Join a representative of the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation fitness division as he takes us through a series of easy-to-do exercises aimed at motivating children to be more active. Kids' day will also feature a fun foray into healthy eating choices. A certified nutritionist from the Medical Center at Bowling Green will teach kids the importance of making healthy food choices. The morning’s activities will come to an exciting conclusion with a special guest appearance by Walkaround Elmo from 10:30 to 11, with additional appearances Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday. Bring your camera and meet Walkaround Elmo Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and again on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Don’t be late, because each appearance will last only 30 minutes. Children will have an opportunity to make their own Sesame Street holiday greeting card, and caregivers can receive a free copy of the guide “Healthy Habits for Life,” available both in English and in Spanish. The Farmers National Bank Holiday Home Festival will be held at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green on Nov. 26 and 27. Admission is free, and Festival hours are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to kids’ activities, there will be more than 40 vendors of holiday gifts and home ideas, how-to holiday demonstrations, and a gingerbread house contest. The contest is open to everyone—including the kids—and entry forms can be found at www.wkyu.org, at the WKYU-PBS offices on the Western Kentucky University campus, or at any location of Farmers National Bank.
