Bowling Green, Ky. - During its first Winter Term, Western Kentucky University will offer a grant writing and administration workshop designed for local government elected officials and program staff, community-based organizations, non-profit organizations, volunteer and community leaders, university faculty and staff, and Masters of Public Administration (MPA) graduate students.
The sessions are scheduled for 5 p.m.-8:20 p.m. on Jan. 3, 5, 10 and 12 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Jan. 14. All meetings will be at the ALIVE Center, 1818 31W Bypass in Bowling Green.
The grant writing and administration workshop is sponsored by the Center for Local Government, the WKU Department of Political Science Department/MPA Program, the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD), the ALIVE Center and WKU Continuing Education/Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO).
This workshop will provide an intensive introduction into the process of grant writing and administration. A variety of topics will be covered including Grant Research, Building Partnerships, Professional and Technical Writing, Proposal and Budget Development and more.
Instructor Dr. Victoria Gordon is the director of the Center for Local Government in the WKU Political Science Department. Dr. Gordon has 15 years experience in local government that includes successful grant writing and administration. Guest speakers will include practitioners in a variety of related fields. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available with at least 90 percent attendance.
Early bird registration (before Dec. 1) is $99. Regular registration is $150 and late registration (after Dec. 12) is $200. Since WKU will be closed during the last two weeks of December, it is imperative that registration is received prior to Dec. 16.
