WKU Veterans Upward Bound Recognizes Four
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Veterans Upward Bound recognized four people during its annual awards banquet.
David Angle of Bowling Green received the Alumnus of the Year award. Angle, a May WKU graduate, was chosen as an outstanding example of the success attainable by veterans who have had a long break between military service and attending school. Glenda Murley of Scottsville received the 2005 Veterans Upward Bound Scholarship. The $300 scholarship is awarded to a VUB student or alumnus who has demonstrated financial need and academic excellence. The scholarship is funded by donations from the local VFW and American Legion posts. Kim Mack of Bowling Green received the Outstanding Student of the Year award for her academic and personal accomplishments. She has been nominated for a national scholarship provided by the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound Project Personnel. Kevin Crum of Russellville was honored as the student who has overcome major obstacles in order to pursue a postsecondary education.
