WKU Student Newspaper's Advertising
Bowling Green, Ky. - Staff members of Western Kentucky University's student newspaper received several awards last week in the Kentucky Press Association's 2005 advertising competition.
The College Heights Herald received first-place awards in five categories and finished third overall in the general excellence competition for KPA associate members. The awards, presented May 13 in Louisville, were: First place: Amelia Farmer of Fisherville for classified section; Matthew Rountree of Elizabethtown for real estate ad and use of color; Michael Reuter of Gardendale, Ala., and Rachel Griffin of Owensboro for creative use of the newspaper/house ads; and spring 2004 staff for special publications. Second place: Reuter and Griffin for creative use of the newspaper/house ads; Rountree for entertainment and dining ad; and Griffin for general miscellaneous ads. Third place: Reuter for entertainment and dining ad; spring 2004 staff for special sections; and Katie Hollenkamp of Prospect and Daniel Byrd of Glasgow for general miscellaneous ads.
