Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University announces its schedule of summer courses for 2005.

The summer session program is part of the regular degree program of Western Kentucky University. Most classes are equivalent in method, content and credit to courses offered by WKU during the regular academic year.

WKU offers three summer terms with courses on the main campus in Bowling Green as well as the WKU campuses in Elizabethtown/Fort Knox, Glasgow and Owensboro. Morning, afternoon, weekend and evening courses are available.

There are many benefits of taking classes during the summer at Western, according to Beth Laves, assistant to the dean of the Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) and director of Summer Sessions. "Summer sessions allow students to speed up progress toward their degrees and catch courses they have dropped or missed in the past," she said. "Plus, classes tend to be smaller in the summer and parking is better than during the fall and spring semesters."

Laves points out that not all students taking summer session courses are WKU students. "We have many students who live in our area but go to school elsewhere who use our summer offerings to make progress on their degrees at other universities and colleges," she said.

Registration begins next week for all summer sessions through TopNet. Graduate students, March 14; Seniors and Post-Baccalaureate students, March 15; Juniors, March 16; Sophomores, March 17; Freshmen, March 18.
