40 Schools Compete In State
Bowling Green, Ky. - The Kentucky High School Speech League, Inc. hosted its Junior State Tournament March 18-19 on the campus of Western Kentucky University.
Forty schools from across the Commonwealth competed at this year's State Tournament. The following middle and elementary schools placed in team sweepstakes: first, School for Creative and Performing ArtsBluegrass; second, Kentucky Country Day; third, Roy G. Eversole Middle School; fourth, Southern Pulaski Middle School; fifth, Hindman Elementary; sixth, Ockerman Middle School; seventh, Beaumont Middle School; eighth, Winburn Middle School; ninth, Harrison County Middle School; 10th, Morton Middle School. The Horizon Awards are given to schools with smaller entries that show excellence. The top five were: first, Glasgow Middle School; second, Calloway County Middle School; third, Jessie Clark Middle School; fourth, St. Paul School; fifth, The Lexington School Individual awards were as follows: Broadcasting: state champion, Sam Rechter (Kentucky Country Day); second, Sanjana Shankar (Roy G.
