Fourth Annual Girls In Science
Day Set For April 23 At WKU

Bowling Green, Ky. - The fourth annual Girls in Science Day is scheduled for April 23 at Western Kentucky University.

The event for girls in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades will consist of hands-on activities to increase the girls' confidence in math and science. Stacy Wilson, associate professor of electrical engineering, encourages girls to pre-register because the event is limited to 130 participants.

Girls in Science Day will consist of classes during a morning session and a team project in the afternoon. The 13 classes include "Dirt Can Take Care of Your Dirty Work," "Books, Stars, and Geometric Connections," "Scientific Cellebration," "Get Digging," "Crime Scene Investigation," "Bottle Your Own Genes," "Polymers Polymers Everywhere," "Lemons and Lightbulbs" and "Hollywood Geology."

The day's activities will begin with registration at 8 a.m. in Thompson Complex Center Wing, room 129. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. in various locations in the Ogden College of Science and Engineering. The team project along with demonstrations and awards will be held in TCCW, room 129.
