Bowling Green-Western Choral Society
Bowling Green, Ky. - At the June 9th meeting of the Bowling Green-Western Choral Society Board of Directors, officers for 2005-06 were elected. They are: President, Julie Pride; President-elect, Allen Redden; Secretary, Carol White; and Treasurer, Charlie Pickle.
In addition to the Executive Officers, Martha Blair Harrison, Deloris Gaddie, Marv Leavy, Earlene Chelf, and Paul Hondorp, the organization's Music Director, also serve on the Board. The Bowling Green-Western Choral Society is, as its name suggests, an organization that blends the vocal music talents of community members and This past year, 85 people were a part of the Choral Society. Of that number, approximately two-thirds were WKU students; the other third, individuals from the community. Choral Society membership is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life, who are interested in choral masterworks with orchestra. Participants' skill level is determined by audition. In addition to its own concerts, the Choral Society regularly collaborates with the Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra. Scheduled for '05-'06 are the Fall concert, Monday, Nov. 7, at First Baptist Church (Bowling Green); the Holiday Pops, Thursday, Dec. 8, Van Meter Auditorium (on Western's campus); and the Spring concert, Thursday, April 27, also at First Baptist Church. Auditions will be held Monday, August 29, the date rehearsals resume following a summer hiatus.
