Bowling Green, Ky. - Effective Friday, Western Kentucky University's official mailing address will change from 1 Big Red Way to 1906 College Heights Blvd.
The change, recommended by the Centennial Planning Committee, was approved in April by the Board of Regents. College Heights had been part of Western's address in the past and 1906 denotes Western's founding date.
Western also has renamed the portion of 15th Street from State Street to Center Street and a section of Big Red Way to Dogwood Drive as "College Heights Boulevard" and the lower portion of Big Red Way from Dogwood Drive to University Boulevard as "Avenue of Champions."
As part of the address change, Western has added a mail stop numbering system for departments to assist in sorting by the U.S. Postal Service. The last four digits of the department number are the same as the +4 zip code.
The complete list of departmental numbers is available online at http://www.wku.edu/Info/General/PS/wkudeptnumbers.htm Among the departmental numbers are the following: President's Office, 11001; Development, 11005; Provost/ VP Academic Affairs, 11008; WKU Foundation, 21016 Alumni Affairs, 31016; College Heights Foundation, 41016; Registrar, 11017; Financial Aid, 11018; Admissions, 11020; Library, 11067; Special Events, 51086; Athletics, 11090; Kentucky Library and Museum, 11092; Housing, 11093; Community College, 11094; Carroll Knicely Center, Continuing Education and DELO, 21094.
