Bowling Green, Ky. - A Western Kentucky University graduate student recently presented his computer science research at an international conference in Vienna, Austria.
Aditya Tadakaluru presented his paper “GeoExpert A framework for data quality in spatial databases” at the International Conference on Computation Intelligence for Modeling, Control and Automation (CIMCA 2005).
The Nov. 28-30 conference provided a medium for the exchange of ideas between theoreticians and practitioners to address the important issues in computational intelligence, modeling, control and automation. Conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
Tadakaluru is conducting his master’s thesis work in WKU’s Department of Computer Science. His work is funded by the Center for Water Resource Studies, where he works as a graduate assistant. Dr. Mostafa Mostafa (thesis adviser), Karla Andrew and Dr. Andrew Ernest are the co-authors for this paper.
Tadakaluru said conference organizers selected about 380 papers from about 1,100 submitted. Presenters included professors and doctoral researchers from around the world doing research in diverse fields. “When I attended different talks, I was really amazed with how the people were trying to handle different problems and applying the concepts of one field in another field to solve a particular problem,” he said.
He also spoke with professors from Australia and Israel about his research. “After talking to all these people, I felt like I had extended my scope of thinking and imagination,” Tadakaluru said. “Now I can say I've had international exposure.”
Tadakaluru received his bachelor of science degree in 2004 from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India.
