Bowling Green, Ky. - Thanks to generous support from The Berta Fund for Excellence, Dr. Sylvia Rimm, contributing correspondent to NBC's Today Show and well known psychologist, will share her expertise this September in Bowling Green.
The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University will host an evening seminar Sept. 15 and a daylong workshop Sept. 16.
As director of the Family Achievement Clinic in Cleveland, clinical professor at Case School of Medicine and author of such books as "Why Bright Kids Get Poor Grades-And What You Can Do About It" and "How to Parent So Children Will Learn," Dr. Rimm is one of the leading experts on underachievement.
During the Sept. 15 seminar, she will explore ways to prevent underachievement in gifted children. The seminar will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. CDT at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center in Bowling Green.
Dr. Rimm's topic for the six-hour workshop on Sept. 16 focuses on the findings of her latest book: "Growing Up Too Fast: The Rimm Report on the Secret Lives of America's Middle Schoolers." Designed for parents, educators, counselors and school administrators, the workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CDT at the Holiday Inn University Plaza. EILA credit is available.
