AASCU Vice-President To Speak At
WKU Faculty Convocation

Bowling Green, Ky. - George Mehaffy, AASCU Vice-President for Academic Leadership and Change, will speak Tuesday morning at the Western Kentucky University Faculty Convocation hosted by the Division of Academic Affairs.

Mehaffy, in his speech "Citizenship and the Future of Democracy," will discuss democracy and public higher education in the United States. Mehaffy suggests that "the strategy for strengthening democracy also strengthens our public colleges and universities."

In addition to Mehaffy, WKU President Gary Ransdell and Provost Barbara Burch will make remarks. Presentations will be made to faculty for University Awards in Teaching, Research/Creativity, Public Service and Student Advisement. The University Distinguished Professor for 2005 will also be named.

The convocation begins in Van Meter Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 23).
