Bowling Green, Ky. - About 1,800 first-year students will arrive at Western Kentucky University on Sunday for the annual M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan program.
M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan (Making Academic and Social Transitions Educationally Rewarding), which began in 1993, offers five days of informational sessions, interactive educational workshops and other activities to help first-year students make the transition to college life. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 29.
Highlights of the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan schedule (Aug. 21-25) include the following:
8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday: Move-in day
3 p.m. Sunday: President’s reception for families at Preston Center
8 p.m. Sunday: M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Convocation at Colonnade featuring keynote speaker David Elson, WKU football coach
5 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday: Faculty reception at Downing University Center South Lawn
9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday: Big Redz Blitz, a community service event coordinated by the ALIVE Center
7 p.m. Thursday: Closing Block Party at Downing University Center South Lawn
