WKU Broadcasters Honored By Kentucky

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University students, faculty, staff and alumni have been honored for excellence in broadcast journalism by the Kentucky Associated Press.

In the student news competition, Western won 21 awards, including best television newscast for NewsChannel 12.

The following students received awards Wednesday in Frankfort:

Ashley Brauer of Glasgow, first in best television news report, honorable mention in best television reporter, honorable mention in television feature.

Ameerah Cetawayo of Louisville, first in best television news report.

Sarah Elizabeth Ede of Louisville, first in best weathercast.

Kyle Edelen of Louisville, first in best television sportscast.

Jeff Woods of Florence, first in best television sportscast.

Mark Brown of Scottsville, first in radio newscast, first in radio news report.

Laura Rogers of Canmer, second in best television reporter, second in television feature.

Diana Carag of Louisville, second in best television news report, second in radio newscast.

Lindsay Wade of Nashville, Tenn., second in television feature.

Ryan Dearbone of Hopkinsville, second in best television sportscast.

Evan Daniels of Louisville, second in best television sportscast.

Jamie Meriwether of Elizabethtown, second in best weathercast.

Jay Brandon of Clarksville, Tenn., honorable mention in best weathercast.

Bryan Hash of Louisville, honorable mention in best television sportscast.

Cory Fish of Elizabethtown, honorable mention in radio feature.

Leigh Searcy ('91), WLEX in Lexington, first in best reporter, second in public service.

Jason Thomason ('01), WPSD in Paducah, honorable mention in breaking spot news.

Scott Couch ('85), WPSD in Paducah, first in series/documentary.

Julie Goodwin ('01), WFPL in Louisville, first in use of sound, first in enterprise/investigative.

Josh James ('02), WUKY in Lexington, first in series/documentary.

Terry Likes, WKYU in Bowling Green, honorable mention in series/documentary.
