WKU Chapter Honored At
SPJ National Competition

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists was recognized during the group's national convention last weekend in New York.
Western was honored as the outstanding chapter in Region 5 (Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky). SPJ presented awards in 12 regions.
Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting also had three national finalists in SPJ student competitions -- WKU NewsChannel 12 in television non-daily newscast; WWHR's Matt Horstman of Muhlenberg County in radio spot news reporting; and College Heights Herald's Josh McCoy of Fancy Farm in spot news photography.
Last year's news management team for NewsChannel 12 included Aron Pryor, a Louisville junior; news director Sara Gouedy of Cincinnati, now a reporter with KSLA-TV in Shreveport, La.; and executive producers Brandon Bratcher of Owensboro, now a producer with WBKO-TV in Bowling Green; Katie Bridge of Georgetown; and Delaina Givens of Georgetown, now an editor with WLEX-TV in Lexington.
