WKU Breaks Ground For Second Parking Structure
September 13, 2004
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University President Gary Ransdell started a new chapter in campus construction this morning as he broke ground for a $10 million parking structure.
"A consistent complaint on our campus, and on every campus, is the lack of available parking," Dr. Ransdell said. The five-story parking deck will provide 824 prime parking spaces near the center of campus, between E.A. Diddle Arena and L.T. Smith Stadium. It is scheduled to open in August 2005.
Instead of shovels for the ceremonial groundbreaking, Dr. Ransdell climbed about a bulldozer and pushed up a section of pavement from the old parking lot. "Here at Western we think a little bigger than that," he said.
