Higdons Make Gift To Hilltopper November 11, 2004 Higdon is a 1970 alumnus and is chairman and CEO of LinGate Hospitality in Owensboro. "I had great experiences and met many good friends while a student at Western," he said. "A lot of memories came from my time as a trainer on Western's football team, and I wanted to be able to help Western and student athletes in the best way I could." According to Tom Hiles, WKU's vice president for Institutional Advancement, an endowment provides lasting spending power for the donor's gift in perpetuity. "The Higdons" gift will remain intact, while a portion of the investment returns will provide permanent support for the football program," he said. "With Glenn's history as a former trainer and a part of Western's football program, it is truly fitting that this endowment will always link his name with Hilltopper football." Head Football Coach David Elson said the Hilltopper football program is grateful that the Higdons have stepped up to support Western Kentucky football in such a significant way. "This endowment gift will have a lasting impact on generations of players and coaches alike, and we appreciate their investment in the future of our program." Dr. Wood Selig, WKU's director of Athletics, said: "The Higdons will help model the way for others who have recently inquired about assisting in our overall efforts to secure the financial future of WKU football. We appreciate their generosity."
