Bowling Green, Ky. - Thirty-three members of Western Kentucky University’s fraternities and sororities have established the Eta Eta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honor Society.
Gamma Sigma Alpha was founded in 1989 at the University of Southern California to promote intellectual interaction between Greek students and the academic community. The purpose of the Society is to promote the advancement of education among Greeks; to instill a greater spirit of cooperation among Greek students and organizations and to encourage excellence in scholarship. There are more than 150 chapters across the country.
To become a member of Gamma Sigma Alpha, the student must be of junior or senior standing and have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Juniors and seniors who receive a 3.5 in any semester will also have the opportunity to join the organization.
The following students have been selected as chartering members of Gamma Sigma Alpha at Western Kentucky University.

Alpha Omicron Pi: Abigail Lovan of Jeffersonville, Ind.; Tara Robinette of Hendersonville, Tenn.
Chi Omega: Courtney Burge of Midway; Jennifer Hutton of Villa Hills; Kristen Land of Richmond; Andrea Sides of Henderson; Emily Wickerham of Louisville.
Kappa Alpha Order: Ryan Inman of Brandenburg.
