Welcome Center On Friday

May 06, 2004

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the grand opening of Western's new Welcome Center with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Friday.

The Welcome Center, located just inside the entrance of the Kentucky Building, offers a central starting point for visitors to the Hill. The center is open seven days a week and houses a number of maps, brochures and other publications as well as a computer kiosk and friendly staff to provide assistance to campus visitors. Convenient parking is available outside the main entrance to the Kentucky Building off of Big Red Way.

The ceremony will include remarks from WKU President Gary Ransdell; chamber Chairman Rick Wilson; WKU Admissions Director Dean Kahler; and Nancy Baird of the Kentucky Building staff.

Thousands of prospective students get their first taste of Western's campus at the Welcome Center as they prepare for their campus tour. Other visitors, whether they are attending events, touring campus landmarks or conducting research, will find the center a good starting point for their visit.

WKU merchandise is also available for sale at the Kentucky Museum Store through a partnership with the WKU Bookstore.
