School Speech League's Junior
State Tournament At WKU

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Kentucky High School Speech League hosted its Junior State Tournament March 21-22 at Western Kentucky University.

The following middle and elementary schools placed in the sweepstakes: first, The School for Creative and Performing Arts at Bluegrass; second, Roy G. Eversole Middle School; third, Winburn Middle School; fourth, Franklin-Simpson Middle School; fifth, Ockerman Middle School; sixth, Kentucky Country Day Middle School; seventh, Southern Pulaski Middle School; eighth, Hindman Elementary; ninth, Calloway County Middle School; 10th, Harrison County Middle School.

The Horizon Awards are given to schools with smaller entries that show excellence. The top five were: first, Bluegrass Middle School; second, June Buchanan School; third, Crittenden County Middle School; fourth, LaRue County Middle School; fifth, Scott Middle School and Lexington Traditional Magnet School (tie).

Individual awards were as follows:

Broadcasting: State Champion, Will Chadwick (Bluegrass Middle School); second, Jordan Davidson (Eversole Middle School); third, Kelly Hieronymus (S.C.A.P.A.); fourth, Christopher Allpress (Franklin-Simpson Middle School); fifth, Ryan Combs (Eversole Middle School); sixth, Kolby Eperson (R.W. Combs Middle School)

Duo Acting: State Champions, Ben Park and Katy Moody (Franklin-Simpson Middle School); second, Adrianna Lacey and Kim Lewis (S.C.A.P.A.); third, Katie Ferguson and Sarah Wright (Conner Middle School); fourth, Katharine Freeman and Lindsay West (The Lexington School); fifth, Rebecca Deery and Lucy Sharp (S.C.A.P.A.); sixth, Molly Dobbins
