WKU Hosting State Junior,
Senior Speech Tournaments

Bowling Green, Ky. - Students from nearly 100 Kentucky schools will be on the campus of Western Kentucky University this month for the Kentucky High School Speech League's state tournaments.
On March 19-20, students from 41 middle and elementary schools will compete in the Junior State Tournament. Events include broadcasting, duo acting, extemporaneous speaking, improvisational duo, interpretation of literature, oratorical declamation, poetry, prose, public speaking, solo acting and storytelling. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. March 20 in Van Meter Auditorium.
On March 25-27, students from 55 high schools will compete in the Senior State Speech and Debate Tournament. Events include Lincoln-Douglas debate, congress, broadcasting, dramatic interpretation, duo interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, humorous interpretation, impromptu speaking, improvisational duo, oratory, poetry, prose, solo acting and storytelling.
The awards ceremony for debate and Congress begins at noon March 26 in Garrett Conference Center Auditorium. Awards for other events will be presented at 3 p.m. March 27 in Van Meter Auditorium.
The competitions in both the junior and senior tournaments will be held in Garrett Conference Center, Cherry Hall and other campus buildings.
