WKU Photojournalism Program
Hosting Workshop

March 01, 2004

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University and Nikon are collaborating this weekend for EMOTION, a sports photojournalism workshop.

Three internationally acclaimed freelance photographers -- Dave Black, Joe McNally and Rick Rickman -- will be coaching 30 WKU photojournalism students as they photograph several sporting events Friday through Monday in Bowling Green.

The hands-on workshop will teach students skills in sports photography, photographic lighting, visual storytelling and business practices in freelance photography.

In conjunction with the workshop, 30 of the coaches' photographs will be on display in the Mass Media and Technology Hall Gallery. Black, McNally and Rickman will give a presentation on their work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mass Media and Technology Hall Auditorium. The presentation is open to the public.

Work by the award-winning photographers has appeared in numerous publications, including Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, ESPN, Parade, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic and U.S. News & World Report.
