WKU Psychology Professor March 03, 2004 Dr. William (Bill) Pfohl will serve NASP as president-elect during the 2004-05 academic year and as president the following year. His election continues a long history of school psychology leadership. He was president of NASP in 1996-97, president of the Kentucky Association of Psychology in the Schools in 1990-91, and president of the School Psychologists of Upstate New York in 1975-76. Dr. Pfohl received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1969 and master's degree in school psychology in 1971 from St. Bonaventure University and his doctorate in psychology in 1979 from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He was awarded the Donald Peterson Prize for Outstanding Contributions to the field of Professional Psychology by the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology in 2000 and received Western's Joseph P. Cangemi Award for Excellence in Leadership in Psychology in 2002. As a member of NASP's National Emergency Assistance Team, which responds to emergencies such as school shootings, Dr. Pfohl has led three crisis response teams. He also does crisis response training and presentations with the International School Psychology Association, and is the author of a recent book chapter titled "Best Practices in Crisis Prevention and Interventions in the Schools."
