F. Reid Buckley To Visit WKU
As Orator-In-Residence

Bowling Green, Ky. - F. Reid Buckley, founder and head of the Buckley School of Public Speaking, will visit Western Kentucky University next week for the Department of Communication's Orator-in-Residence program.

Buckley, a champion debater at Yale University and author of several books on public speaking, will participate in a series of sessions April 7-8 at Mass Media and Technology Hall Auditorium. Buckley has trained national and international leaders in government, military, private and entertainment industries.

In the two-day program at Western, Buckley will provide one-on-one instruction for six students in the crafting and delivery of a public speech. In coaching sessions during the program, those students as well as other students and faculty will receive instruction that will help them compose and deliver effective speeches.

At 7 p.m. April 8, Buckley will deliver a speech titled "Education For Whom? For What?" at Mass Media and Technology Hall Auditorium.

Buckley's books include "Speaking in Public: Buckley's Techniques for Winning Arguments and Getting Your Point Across" and "Strictly Speaking: Reid Buckley's Indispensable Handbook on Public Speaking." His visit is sponsored by the Department of Communication, Potter College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Gordon Ford College of Business, Leadership Studies and Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching (FaCET).
