Clinton, Wayne County June 14, 2004 The camps, sponsored by the South Central Kentucky Area Health Education Center and the Gear Up program in Clinton County, will give students a taste of college life. Gear Up is a grant-funded program that encourages children to apply themselves in high school and to pursue postsecondary education. Gear Up Summer College is divided into two camps -- June 21-22 and June 23-24. Both camps have 46 students participating. Activities include a campus tour, a visit to the student radio station, a print making workshop and tour at the Kentucky Museum, a team building activity, and a program by Kids on the Block as well as classes on water and environmental health, food preparation/food safety, textile design/print, CPR for family and friends, and basics about birds. Sessions will be conducted at Mass Media and Technology Hall, Academic Complex, Kentucky Building and Science and Technology Hall.
