WKU DELO, UK Extension

June 28, 2004

WKU Logo
Bowling Green, Ky. - Where does your milk come from? What do soybeans look like? What is agriculture and why is it so important?

Area students will learn the answers to those questions and more next month at a Farm Camp sponsored by Western Kentucky University's Division of Extended Learning and Outreach and the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service.

The farm camp, for children ages 8-12, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 19 and 20 at the WKU's L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center.

The camp is open to children in Warren and surrounding counties. The cost is $25.

Participants in the camp will tour the WKU farm and Chaney's Dairy Farm; see and touch farm animals such as cattle, goats, poultry and horses; ride horses; plant seeds; and learn about fruits, vegetables, aquaculture, bees and grains.

For information, contact Janet Turley at the Warren County Cooperative Extension Office at (270) 842-1681 or Sharon Woodward at WKU Continuing Education at (270) 745-1910.
