Martin Elected Chair Of WKU July 30, 2004 Regents elected Earl Fischer of Dallas vice chair during the quarterly meeting at Mammoth Cave National Park. The Board approved three naming opportunities, including two in Mass Media and Technology Hall. Room 344 will become the Julian Goodman Classroom, named for the Glasgow native and WKU alumnus who was president and chairman of NBC in the 1970s. Room 219 will become the Joe and Ann Rose Richards Conference Room in honor of the Simpson County couple and WKU graduates whose support includes a leadership gift worth more than $275,000. The Preston Center pool will be named for Western's swim coach of 35 seasons. The Bill Powell Natatorium will honor a coach with 10 coach of the year awards, seven undefeated seasons and an 82.2 winning percentage. In other business, the Board: · Approved selling 2,320 square feet of road frontage on Nashville Road to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for a road-widening project. · Authorized the University to place 1425 State St. on the real estate market. · Approved selling 0.33 acres on Morgantown Road at Forrest Drive to Bowling Green Municipal Utilities for $16,500. The lot is adjacent to land BGMU had purchased for an elevated water storage tank. · Swore in two new regents recently appointed by Gov.
