Bowling Green, Ky. - Christina Henry, a Western Kentucky University graduate student and Kentucky Climate Center research assistant, was invited by the National Weather Service last month to present her master's thesis research at the Jackson, Ky., office.

Henry's thesis involves analysis and assessment of the hydrometeorological aspects of an Eastern Kentucky flash flood, using the recently acquired MM5 mesoscale meteorological model.

Henry, of Sumter, S.C., is working on this project under the supervision of Dr. Rezaul Mahmood, with funding provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

"This invitation and subsequent presentation by Christina provided a great experience for her," Dr. Mahmood said. "In addition, we believe that this type of interaction between WKU and NWS will lead to other opportunities for research collaboration and student learning."

For more information about meteorology research or about the master's in geoscience program, contact Dr. David Keeling, head of the Department of Geography and Geology, at (270) 745-4555.
